Great composition and subject . In a perfect picture world i would have used a wider f-stop (2.8)to create a shallow DOF and if not possible,try cropping real tightly(or in-camera )to avoid leading the viewer's focus away from the subject(top left corner), then clone out distracting objects (broken broom and flower pot) and finally increase saturation to bring the rustic mood from the gas pump.

Great theme but I strongly disagree with the photoshop treatment and all the people above (except from Hercules).It is only a matter of taste but I really hate this kind of colour subject- B&W background. It would be nice if you have put down the saturation to very low levels for the background... but not grayscale. It looks like some old kitch postcards.
